UK Car Insurance Cashback

Once you’ve found the cheapest car insurance, there’s a way to reduce your premium more, £20 to £50 cashback on top is possible... How to do this? Simply sign via a cashback website.

These are special sites carrying paid links from retailers and financial services providers; in other words if you click through them and get a product they get paid. However importantly, they then give you some of this cash which means you get the same product, but a cut of the advertising revenue.

Set up a free account (don’t use any that require payment) with cashback sites such as Topcashback, Quidco or Cashbackkings, log-in and then click on the product you’re interested in. When you make a transaction such as buying something or signing up to a new credit or insurance policy, it’s recorded and you’re paid cash for doing so.

Why do they pay out on a cashback program?

In a way, car insurance cashback sites are actually advertising sites. They simply list product providers and retailers, and when you click through to these websites, they get paid for ‘providing leads’; the same way most web-adverts usually work. Yet with a cashback site, when you’re logged in, the revenue raised from your click is attributed to you so the site can pay you some or all of the money it receives.

The technology’s rather simple: ready-made paying links are available from ‘links warehouses’ such as Trade Doubler or Affiliate Network, which primarily allow normal website owners to pick the adverts they put on their sites. These do all the liaison with the product providers; though the big cashback sites also have their own direct relationships, so they can offer a wider range of providers or earn more.

Not all car insurance are included, and you should never choose an insurer just for the cashback, but if your cheapest does pay out, why not grab it. Below are some of the current cashback offers:

• Post Office UK. The Post Office
• is offering new customers £50 cashback for taking out its car insurance before the 30 June 08.
• Norwich Union UK. Norwich Union
• is offering between £15 and £75 cashback, depending on your premium cost, if you have three or more years no claims.
• RAC UK. The RAC
• is giving new customers free RAC Roadside Cover or £20 discount and £35 cashback if you already have it's breakdown.
• First Direct Car Insurance UK. First Direct promises to beat your renewal quote by £30 or £50 if you're insuring two cars, providing your annual premium is over £200 for comprehensive or £120 for non-comprehensive. So if your comparison hasn’t shaved over £30 off your renewal, grab this.
• Swiftcover UK. Swiftcover is currently offering £25 off it’s car insurance if you enter it’s competition to win £100,000. At the moment the competition runs until 31 Mar 08 but if someone wins it will end sooner. You need to enter a valid email address to be given the £25 promotional code, so may get marketing emails as a result, you can opt out of these at any time.
• Tesco UK. Tesco
• has two offers for new insurance customers. Its credit card customers can get 500 clubcard points a month for a year (worth £240 in clubcard deals) when they pay for the insurance on their credit card and quote code 'ccpoints0108'. The offer lasts until 31 Mar 08. It is also offering £50 off shopping or fuel at Tesco to clubcard customers who buy insurance by 2 Apr 08 and quote code 'shop50'. The £50 is in the form of a voucher.
• Tesco Compare UK. If you buy your insurance through Tesco Compare
• before 8 Apr 08 it is giving 500 clubcard card points. The clubcard must be in the policyholders name and the clubcard number must be entered into the Tesco Compare website.
